OpenClaw without a terminal

Beyond
ClawX.

ClawX puts OpenClaw behind a desktop app, with chat, scheduled tasks, channels and skills, and no terminal. It does that by always running its own built-in OpenClaw, patched: OpenClaw's web search is off, and so are its gateway, nodes and goal tools. It can't connect to a gateway on another machine (the request was closed as not planned in June 2026), and it sends anonymous usage data until you turn it off. If any of that is why you're looking, here are the others, and when ClawX is still the one to use.

What are the best alternatives to ClawX for OpenClaw?

Pick by what ClawX doesn't do for you. To run OpenClaw on this computer without a terminal: OpenClaw's own app (macOS 26.2+) or Windows Hub, or OpenClaw Easy, the closest swap. If your gateway runs on another machine, which ClawX can't reach: littleguys (small and free, several gateways at once, with Claude Code and Codex alongside), the gateway's own Control UI, ClawControl (desktop and phone) or Pincer (Mac and iPhone). For more agents than OpenClaw: Agent Hub (with SSH hosts) or AionUi (a big workspace). On Linux, or a Mac older than macOS 26.2, ClawX is still the simplest.

The apps

  1. littleguys

A WhatsApp-style chat app for the OpenClaw you run, on this computer or any other: every agent, on every gateway you connect, is a contact with its own threads, with exec approvals and cron. On a Mac with no OpenClaw yet, it installs the official one and sets it up with the AI provider you pick, without a terminal.

Pick it if your gateway runs on another machine, or on several, or you want the official OpenClaw rather than a patched one, with Hermes, Claude Code and Codex in the same window.

macOS 13+, Apple silicon and Intel; Windows 10+ · Free, MIT, no telemetry · 17 MB · Download it

  2. OpenClaw app by OpenClaw

OpenClaw's own menu bar companion, with a dashboard window, voice wake, a Canvas panel, Mac tools for agents such as screen and camera capture, and usage and cost in its menu.

Pick it if you have a Mac on macOS 26.2 or later and want OpenClaw's own app: it sets up a gateway on this Mac, or connects to one elsewhere.

macOS 26.2+; Windows and Linux companions · Free, MIT · 350 MB, with the OpenClaw runtime inside · macOS app, menu bar, releases

  3. OpenClaw Windows Hub by OpenClaw

OpenClaw's own Windows companion, with setup, tray status, chat and diagnostics. Set up locally, it installs the gateway inside a WSL distro of its own, without administrator rights; it also connects to a gateway on another machine by URL or over an SSH tunnel.

Pick it if you're on Windows and want OpenClaw's own app, with the gateway on this PC or elsewhere.

    Windows 10 20H2+, x64 and ARM64 · Free, MIT · 128 MB · Windows docs, releases

  4. OpenClaw Easy

A one-click installer that runs OpenClaw on this computer, with chat, cron jobs, and WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Feishu and LINE set up in one window. It runs a gateway on this machine only.

Pick it if you want the closest swap for ClawX on a Mac or PC, with your messaging apps set up for you.

macOS 12+, Windows 10 and 11; Electron · Free, Apache-2.0, with optional prepaid credits for hosted AI · 419 MB; the Windows installer isn't code-signed yet · site, GitHub

  5. OpenClaw Control UI by OpenClaw

The web dashboard every gateway serves: chat, exec approvals with a 30-day history, and cron jobs with their runs. From another machine you reach it through Tailscale Serve, with a one-time pairing for each browser.

Pick it if you'd rather not install anything: the gateway already serves it.

Any browser, served by the gateway · Free, MIT; one gateway per dashboard · Control UI, connect and pair, exec approvals

  6. ClawControl by jakeledwards

A desktop and phone client for OpenClaw: several agents streaming at once, exec approvals as cards in the chat, and cron jobs to create, run and pause, on a gateway you reach by URL, Tailscale included. You save several servers and switch between them, one at a time.

Pick it if you want the same OpenClaw client on your desktop and your phone, one gateway at a time.

macOS 12+, Windows, Linux (Electron); iPhone ($0.99), Android · Free on desktop, MIT · 191 MB · README, releases

  7. Pincer by Travis Harris

A native Mac and iPhone client for OpenClaw, with chats organized like Discord: exec approvals as notifications you answer (allow once, always allow, deny), cron jobs to run, pause and edit, and several gateways signed in at once, over Tailscale or your Wi-Fi.

Pick it if you want a native Mac and iPhone client for your gateway, and don't mind a new app.

macOS 15+ (Mac App Store); iPhone (TestFlight) · Free, MIT · 22 MB · App Store, README

  8. Agent Hub by Potarix

A chat window over the Claude Code, Codex, Hermes and OpenClaw CLIs, run on this Mac or over SSH on any host you can reach, with a terminal per host. It starts its own session for each thread, and approvals work for Claude Code on this Mac only.

Pick it if you want OpenClaw next to Claude Code, Codex and Hermes, run on hosts you reach over SSH, with a terminal per host.

macOS 11+, Apple silicon only · Free, MIT · 194 MB · site, README, approvals

  9. AionUi by iOfficeAI

A full desktop workspace ("Cowork") with an agent of its own that works with any API key, which also runs Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, Hermes, Gemini CLI and 20+ more CLI agents over ACP. It starts its own session for each chat.

Pick it if you want OpenClaw next to many other agents, in a big workspace with an agent of its own.

macOS 10.15+, Windows, Linux, a WebUI · Free, Apache-2.0 · 290 MB; release builds send crash reports and recent logs · site, README, releases

  10. ClawChat by Clawling

A messenger where your agents get accounts and join chats with you, through a plugin you install next to OpenClaw or Hermes. Messages sync through ClawChat's own service; end-to-end encryption is an optional beta, for one-to-one text only.

Pick it if you want your agents in group chats with people, on every device, and don't mind a cloud service in the middle.

iPhone, Android, macOS, Windows · Core features free; plugins MIT · 47 MB · site, App Store, OpenClaw plugin

Checked on November 3, 2026 against each app's own site, docs, README and releases. Left out: ClawWork (no release since May 2026), wzdavid's OpenClaw Desktop (June 2026), Claw Desktop (its last release is a February beta), nexu (April 2026), ClawDesk (a June pre-release), and Emdash, which AlternativeTo lists next to ClawX but which runs coding agents, not OpenClaw.

When ClawX is the better pick

If you're on Linux, or on a Mac older than macOS 26.2, and want OpenClaw on this computer with no terminal, ClawX is still the simplest: it runs on macOS 11+, Windows 10+ and Ubuntu 20.04+, while OpenClaw's own Mac app needs macOS 26.2 and OpenClaw Easy has no Linux build. It also brings WeChat and DingTalk channels and an optional Computer Use in one install, and it ships often: two releases in October. It's free and MIT, and about 294 MB on a Mac. ClawX's README.

OpenClaw in littleguys

  1. Install it with Homebrew or the .dmg (below). It's 17 MB.
  2. Open it. If OpenClaw runs on this Mac, littleguys connects on its own, and your agents show up right away. No OpenClaw yet? It installs the official one and sets it up with the AI provider you pick.
  3. Add your other machines from Settings → Add gateway: it lists the gateways it finds on your tailnet and LAN. Each approves this Mac once, with the openclaw devices approve command littleguys shows you. More on gateways on other machines.
