littleguys for Hermes Agent
A small Mac app
for Hermes Agent.
littleguys gives every Hermes Agent profile a little guy in your Mac menu bar. It connects to hermes serve on this Mac, or to the Hermes API server on another machine, and shows each profile's threads, live replies and approval prompts. It's a quiet front end for the Hermes you already run, not another place to run it.
What you see
- Each profile is a guy. The menu bar shows when one is working, has replied or needs you; a click shows them all with their last message.
- Your Hermes sessions as threads, including the ones you started in the CLI or from a messaging app, next to the ones you start in littleguys.
- Approvals and routines. Allow or deny the commands Hermes asks about. Routines are Hermes' own cron jobs, so they keep running on Hermes' schedule when littleguys is closed.
Set it up
- Install littleguys with Homebrew or the .dmg (below).
- Hermes on this Mac: run
hermes serve, then in littleguys choose Add a gateway → Hermes. It finds Hermes on this Mac and on your tailnet; click Add. - Hermes on another machine: turn on its API server (
API_SERVER_ENABLED=trueand anAPI_SERVER_KEYin that machine's~/.hermes/.env), then add it with that key.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't create or delete Hermes profiles, and you can't attach files to a message yet.
- A remote API server brings one profile per connection, and slash commands, the file browser and plugins only work with Hermes on this Mac.
- It's not a full workspace like Hermes Desktop, which adds a terminal, a file browser, git review and voice. See the comparison.
